Our infant program focuses on providing the infant’s individual needs in a secure, predictable and stimulating environment. Nurturing, responsive educators practice primary caregiving and continuity of care by scaffolding the unique needs and touching, holding, and playing alongside newborns at their level and pace. Also, try to communicate verbally and nonverbal. Adult-child interactions include give-and-take exchanges, respecting children’s decisions and rewarding their efforts, and addressing children’s strong emotions.
Our infant educators have designed this program to recognize and support each infant’s ‘firsts.’ The first step, the first word, the first of everything!
A consistent but customizable schedule that takes into account individual children’s natural cycles and temperaments. It provides newborns with a sense of security and stability. It will promote trust between the child and educator and independence as children interact with their surroundings and others. Each routine is based on daily events and caregiving habits that promote active learning in newborns.
Objective and Goals for our program
Child Development – We are developing age-appropriate activities for all of our programs based on B.C. Early Learning Framework curriculum.
Holistic Approach – We adopt a holistic approach that focuses on the whole child’s development.
Emergent curriculum – We are a curriculum-based emergent program. Fraser believes that children learn best when curriculum experiences take into consideration their interests, strengths, needs, and lived realities. Educators committed to this philosophy use observations of children throughout their day as a tool for constructing curriculum content. Meaningful learning opportunities are then provided in support of key developmental skills relevant to a specific age group.
